Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 6, 2026

This policy covers HappyTab (also called Happy Tab), the Android tip-and-bill-splitting app with package name com.happy_tab.

Information used on your phone

HappyTab processes your bill amount, tip, number of people, and selected travel-guide country on your device to calculate a split. It does not maintain a bill-history database. Android may temporarily retain the current screen state so the calculation survives screen rotation or activity recreation.

The app saves your appearance, sound and animation preferences locally. If you set up Get paid, it also saves your selected payment provider, recipient name or handle, receive-money link and any amount-specific request link you choose to save. A saved request includes the amount and a reference to its associated split so an outdated request will not be used for a changed bill.

When you choose a QR image with Android's document picker, HappyTab reads that selected image and decodes its QR code locally. It does not retain a copy of the image; it saves the decoded payment link only when you save the setup. The app does not request camera, contacts, location, microphone or broad photo-library permissions.

What leaves the app

HappyTab does not send your calculation, payment-profile data or images to the developer. It has no app-operated server, account registration, ads, analytics SDK or embedded crash-reporting SDK, and does not sell personal information. The Android app does not request Internet permission.

External services

Venmo, Cash App, Zelle and participating banks handle payment accounts and transactions under their own privacy policies. The optional Support HappyTab link opens Ko-fi at ko-fi.com/farkl. Travel-guide source links and this policy open in your browser. These outside apps and websites may receive network and browser information, and any information you provide to them, under their own policies. Their account records, receipts and retention practices are separate from HappyTab. Opening a link does not give HappyTab access to your account.

Retention, deletion and security

Saved preferences and payment details remain in the app's private local storage until you remove them, clear the app's storage or uninstall it. In Get paid, choose the provider, open Edit saved payment details and select Remove saved payment details to remove that provider's local profile and request. Use recipient QR instead removes a saved amount-specific request where offered. Reset calculator clears the current calculation; it does not remove saved payment profiles or preferences.

You can remove all app-local data through Android Settings → Apps → HappyTab → Storage → Clear storage, or by uninstalling the app. This does not delete your original QR image, clipboard contents, information already shared with someone else, or records held by payment providers. Manage those through the relevant device or service.

HappyTab uses Android's app-private storage and configures its app data to be excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. It does not provide its own cloud synchronization. Device security and operating-system behavior still apply; no storage method can guarantee absolute security.
